JBoss, the Linux provider behind Red Hat, announced that they are launching Seam 1.0, which is a new application framework for Web 2.0 applications. According to the company, “The solution unifies and integrates popular service-oriented architecture technologies such as Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, JavaServer Faces, Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0, Java portlets, business process management and workflow.â€
“As the first unifying and integrated framework for SOA technologies, JBoss Seam offers developers a rapid development environment and programming model that extends from the simple to the most complex Web applications,” says Gavin King, founder and project lead of JBoss Seam.
Seam has been well received by the development community and is assisting in creating a “new standards initiative for Web Beans through the Java Community Process.â€

Yahoo, a well known provider of search, email and many other features, announced that they have managed to contain a worm that was wreaking havoc for their webmail users. The virus was dubbed “Yammer†and once an email containing the worm was opened, the user’s computer was immediately infected.
“We have taken steps to resolve the issue and protect our users from further attacks of this worm,” says Kelley Podboy, a Yahoo spokesperson. “The solution has been automatically distributed to all Yahoo Mail customers, and requires no additional action on the part of the user.”
The problem was first noticed on Monday, but according to Yahoo, only a small amount of the more than 200 million people who use Yahoo! Mail were affected. The email subject line for this malicious worm was “New Graphic Site,†and the email contained JavaScript which launched the bug.

Mail2World Offers New Services
Mail2World, a provider of hosted email services, announced that they are now offering a range of new services for their customers. According to the company, “the new Mail2World applications include Backpack, which securely stores digital photos, documents, music and video files. Other applications are Today, an interface which features a snapshot of daily information most relevant to a user, and Attachment Manager, which includes several new tools for handling large email attachments.â€
“Our market research led us to develop a host of richly interactive online services that simplify our users’ lives and tremendously enhance their productivity,” says Youssef Abed, Mail2World’s executive VP and COO. “With these latest advancements, which were professionally developed within a relatively short period of time, we believe Mail2World has once again extended the boundaries of email technology.”
Other features for Mail2World’s customers include, “an improved email experience with desktop-like features, such as drag-and-drop functionality, a reading pane with multiple views, fully integrated blogging and podcasting with RSS.â€

IXEurope Secures London Data Center
IXEurope, a provider of data center outsourcing solutions, announced that they have c completed the necessary steps to get their London data center on the road to creation. According to the company, “the site will initially provide a gross area of 6,500 m2 in an investment project of around £15 million, most of which will be spent over the next 24 months.â€
Guy Willner, Chief Executive of IXEurope said, “The requirement to fund this expansion was a significant element in our decision to float earlier this year. This development, coming in addition to our recent data center acquisitions in Park Royal (West London), Munich and Frankfurt, reinforces our position as a leading provider of enterprise data center services in Europe and as Europe’s fastest growing data center services company.”
The company stated that, “The ‘London4’ project entails the construction of a specially built shell to accommodate two floors of approximately 6,500m2 each and the actual fit out of one floor initially. The first fitted-out floor, which will deliver around 5,000m2 of net space, will be phased to meet customer demand. The £15 million funding for the building shell and first floor fit-out is expected to be through a combination of debt finance and cash.â€
