ADDR Web Hosting

ADDR Web Hosting has several different hosting options currently available. For this review, we’re going to take a look at their Starter Plan which is priced at $7.95 per month and does not require any set-up fee. If you decide to opt for their yearly billing option, 10% will be taken off of your hosting bill for the year, which is a nice feature.

Although this plan is budget priced, it offers 1 gig of disk space and 40 gigs of monthly data transfer, which is very decent for the money. Too many hosts in this price range offer less than half a gig of space and paltry amounts of monthly bandwidth, so right off the bat, this plan is shaping up to a be a good one. 250 email addresses are supplied, and while it’s not unlimited, this should still be enough for most applications.

They offer a control panel for this account, but unfortunately, do not state which one it is. If it is not one of the more widely used panels, it would have been nice if ADDR had provided a demo to give potential clients an idea of what they will be working with. Full shell access is provided however, which is rare when it comes to shared hosting, so this does help the plan’s overall value. Mailing lists, autresponders and aliases are also provided.

CGI, Perl, Java, PHP, HTMLscripts and more are all supported and this plan also offers the ability to stream Real Audio and Video files. A script package is included, but appears to be the standard bulletin board, counter and guestbook that you can find just about anywhere. They do however submit your new site to search engines for you, free of charge.

Technical support is offered 24/7 via live chat, trouble tickets and their toll-free help line. This is always nice to see, particularly with budget hosting companies. All in all, this plan has a lot of nice things to offer, and while it’s a little lacking in scripts, it does come at a great price and with phone support, it’s worth a second look.
