Centrica Hosting

Centrica Hosting offers low yearly fees for all of their hosting plans, as well as a 30-day money back guarantee. Currently, you’ll find three plans, one for personal, one for business and one for enterprise level hosting. For this review, we’ll be looking at their Business Plan which is currently priced at $135 per year. It’s a big committment to buy a year’s worth of hosting in advance, so let’s see if this plan is worth the up-front expense.

You’ll get 5 gigs of disk space and 50 gigs of monthly bandwidth which is pretty standard for this price range. 10,000 email addresses, autoresponders and aliases are provided, which is practically unlimited and should be enough for even the largest business sites. Unlimited junk mail filters are available, and you can use up to 10,000 mailing lists, which again, is more than enough for most applications. 10,000 FTP accounts are allowed, and you can host up to 10,000 subdomains with this account.

SSL Secure Server Access is provided, and a free shared certificate is offered. Several ecommerce scripts come free with this package as well as an online Site Builder. The $600 freebie pack includes Link Evaluator, Site Submitter, Traffic Wizard and numerous site templates and scripts. 50 MySQL databases are offered, which should give you plenty of room to really try out the script libraries and have some fun with your site.

For technical support, you’ll be limited to an online form, but it is available 24/7. This is the one major downside for an otherwise decent plan. Even a trouble ticket system would have improved their overall ranking. Overall, it’s a good value for the money, but there is some room for improvement. The site design is a little complicated, and some customers may not see the link to learn more about each of their services, which could hamper Centrica’s success in attracting new clients.
