CyberLand USA claims to be a cheap and reliable webhost, but can they deliver? Let’s see.
For this review, we selected their Ultra Hosting plan. If you need more or less functionality on your hosting package, CyberLand does offer several different levels of hosting solutions, all reasonably priced. This plan includes 1 gig of disk space and 30 gigs of monthly data transfer. While this isn’t the best showing in the budget host market, considering the $8.95 monthly price tag, it isn’t bad.
Seventeen MySQL databases are included, but if you need extra, their next higher level plan should provide what you need. Fifteen subdomains and actual domains are allowed on this account, giving you an option to open a small re-seller business or host multiple sites for yourself on one account. Unlimited email addresses, forwarders and aliases are included, which is pretty much standard for this price range.
CPanel is provided for managing your site, which will come in handy if you decide to host more than one site or if you plan to resell space. However, with the small amount of diskspace, you’ll be pretty limited with this option. Access to your raw server logs is allowed, and the provided statistic progam is the popular Analog program. If you prefer Webalizer or Awstats, these are also provided.
Support for Quicktime and Flash is provided, as well as several free scripts such as PHPNuke, Invision Board, Entropy Banner, Support Desk and several chat or guestbook apps. This is a pretty standard offering, but a nice add-on for a hosting plan in this range.
Telephone support is not provided, but they do offer 24/7 webbased customer and technical support. Their published average response time is 15 minutes, which isn’t bad for a budget host. Many hosting companies take hours to respond, so this does move CyberLand a little higher in our overall ranking.Related Posts:
