Fluid Hosting

FluidHosting offers both Unix and NT based hosting plans, and their selection is well priced and extensive. We’ll be taking a look at their Unix plans for this review, in particular, their Medium Plan, which is currently priced at $14.95 per month. There are no set-up fees for any of their hosting plans and a 30-day money back guarantee is offered, which is always nice to see.

1 gig of disk space and 20 gigs of monthly data transfer are provided, and you can host up to five domains from one account. If you do need more, you can add them on for an additional monthly charge. Unlimited email addresses and FTP accounts are provided, and anti-spam and anti-virus tagging is supported. A secure webmail client is offered, as well as the usual amount of unlimited aliases, autoresponders and mailing lists. FTP sub-accounts are available and anonymous FTP is also supported.

Three different site statistic programs are provided and you will have access to numerous site logs, such as error, agent, transfer and referrer. 5 MySQL databases and 5 Postgre SQL databases are included as well as PHPMyAdmin and PHPpgAdmin for their administration. While it would have been nice to see an unlimited amount of either type of database, some are better than none, and this amount should be enough for most sites. OSCommerce is installed with this account, and support is provided for a 128 bit SSL certificate. If you need a shared SSL certificate, this is available as an add-on.

Speaking of add-ons, they are numerous and most do not require a set-up fee, which is nice to see. They are all well-priced, and should help you further customize your account. Support is offered for Perl, Pear, PHP, ImageMagick, NetPBM, and Python. You can schedule your own daily back-ups, cron jobs and customize your own DNS settings.

Technical support is offered 24/7 through support tickets and email, and telephone support is offered during regular business hours. Overall, this plan is well priced, and offers a lot of nice features. The ability to use add-ons to further customize is nice to see, and this plan should work well for a lot of different uses.
