Downtown Host Celebrates Five Years in Business

Downtown Host, a provider of hosting solutions, reached an important marker when they hit five years in business this week. The company is holding a celebration of their success by offering their new customers a free site transfer when they sign up for a new account.

In addition, new customers can also receive an extension on their hosting contract with Downtown Host. This means that time left on a previous host will be added to the contract with Downtown at no additional charge.

These offers are time-limited.

Verisign to Buy GeoTrust

Verisign, a provider of various internet related services, announced today that they are purchasing GeoTrust, a provider of identity verification services. The deal is worth an approximate $125 million in cold, hard cash.

“The acquisition of GeoTrust improves VeriSign’s ability to serve the reseller channel market with technologies and services that are specifically tailored to their needs,” said Judy Lin, Executive Vice President and General Manager, VeriSign Security Services.

“As the market for SSL continues to grow among organizations of all sizes, VeriSign recognizes the importance of a strong reseller channel to reach a broader range of customers,” said Neal Creighton, GeoTrust CEO. “GeoTrust customers and resellers are sure to benefit from VeriSign’s heritage in providing SSL and other network security solutions, as well as its global support network.”

Spoonohost’s Discount Domain Promotion

Spoonohost, a provider of hosting services, announced today that they are running a discount domain promotion for new and existing customers. Currently, you can purchase a domain for $2.95 and you will not have to sign up for any of Spoono’s services in order to take advantage of the special price. Only one domain is available per customer at this price.
