Looking for a cheap hosting plan but still need enough features to keep your site going? Universion has several different budget priced solutions that may have your answer. For this review, we’re going to focus on their Personal Plan.
This plan comes with 200 megs of disk space and 5 gigs of data transfer. The disk space may be a little light if you plan to store a lot of pictures or rich media content, but most personal sites should not have any problems. The bandwidth amount is decent for this type of a hosting plan and once again, should be enough for most sites. Their next plans up offer higher limits and the prices are still quite reasonable, if you’re not certain that this plan will have what you need.
You’ll be allowed three subdomains with this plan, but you will not be able to use any add-on or parked domains. This feature is available with their other plans, for an additional cost. Five email accounts are included, but you will be able to have unlimited autoresponders and forwarders should you need more than that. One mailing list is offered, and two FTP accounts are provided with this plan.
If you need to stream audio or video files, this feature is supported. However, with the low disk space and data transfer, this may not be the wisest option, unless you don’t plan on having a lot of traffic. You will be able to make your custom error pages, and SSI, Java Scripting and Flash support is provided. If you plan to set up a small store, a shopping cart is provided free of charge, but there is no mention if there is a free shared SSL certificate. If you need this feature, you may need to purchase your own certificate.
Fantastico is provided, which is rare with this price range of hosting plans. If you’re planning on setting up your own blog, this would be a great solution for you. Technical support is provided 24/7 via email or if you prefer, instant messaging. All in all, this is a cheap hosting plan that still has some features that aren’t available with higher priced solutions.Related Posts:
